Enviromine 2015 will run short courses on mine waste management and environmental impact

The workshops will be an opportunity to share knowledge on mine waste management, acid drainage and environmental consequences.

Two short courses entitled “Mining Waste Management: From Design to Closure” and “Modeling of Acid Mine Drainage: Implementation for Design and Decision Making” will take place prior to the 4th International Seminar on Environmental Issues in Mining which will be held from December 2-4 in the Hotel Marriot in Lima. 

The first short course will be run by Jacques Wiertz, Professor at the Universidad de Chile and will analyze mining waste management during the different stages of a mining project. The focus will be on providing practical tools to collect and manage information relevant to managing waste in an efficient and environmentally responsible way.

The second course, which will be run by David Arcos, Director of Mining Geochemistry and Jorge Molinero, Director of the Water and Soils Department, Amphos 21, will focus on advanced modeling techniques, water resource management, characterization and restauration of contaminated sites and mining operations.
