Managing the mine environment from design to post-closure

It is with great pleasure that I have taken on the role of chair the Organizing Committee of the International Seminar on Environmental Issues in the Mining Industry which will take place from 2nd to 4th December, 2015 in Lima, Peru.

Environmental management in the mining industry has become more and more important particularly due to two factors: firstly, climate changes affecting the planet and secondly, increasingly demanding government regulations. This has meant that mining companies are dedicating more efforts to environmental research and are adapting their processes and operations and therefore making this a critical factor for competitiveness.
