In order to construct a new supportive relationship, the Chilean company Gecamin and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) signed a cooperative agreement that seeks to strengthen ties, facilitate the exchange of experiences and further develop mining industry professionals in both countries.
The organisations will join forces in order to disseminate the specialised seminars and conferences that contribute to improving the professional standards in the mining industry. As a first step, the IIMP announced their sponsorship for Gecamin’s 2013 conference calendar, including those to be carried out in Chile and Peru.
Carlos Barahona, general manager of Gecamin, a company with over 15 years of experience in organising conferences for mining said that “if professionals from Chile and Peru can have a space where they are able to discuss and share experiences and best practices, it will result in progress for the entire industry.”
Barahona also said that signing this agreement aligns with the company’s goal of hosting more conferences in Peru in order to promote an international support network amongst professionals in the region.
