Areas of Interest

Mineral Processing

About 75% of copper in Chile is produced in concentration plants where the ore is processed using comminution and flotation. Innovations and technological developments in energy efficiency and the optimisation of water resources are what characterise this sector of the industry. Conferences organised by Gecamin that pertain to this area include:

International Mineral Processing Seminar
This seminar is held annually. The eighth and most recent version of this event was held in December 2011 in Santiago, Chile and was organised by Gecamin and the Department of Mining Engineering of the Universidad de Chile. The technical programme included 54 presentations by authors representing 11 countries. Delegates from 48 mining companies were among the 445 participants who attended.
International Seminar on Tailings Management
This seminar is held every year. The last version was held in August 2014 in Antofagasta, Chile, and was organized by Gecamin and the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia. The technical program included 49 presentations by authors representing 9 countries. Delegates from 14 mining companies were among the 160 participants who attended. The next version will be held in August 19-21, 2015in Santiago, Chile.

In addition to Procemin, Gecamin has organised events of international origin, which are held periodically in different host countries. This applies to:

XXVII International Congress on Mineral Processing
This congress is held every two years. The last edition of this event was held in Brisbane, Australia, and in 2012 it will be held in New Delhi, India. The following IMPC will be held in October 2014 in Santiago, Chile, and will be organised together with the Universidad de Chile, the Universidad de Concepción and the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.
5th World Conference on Sampling and Blending
