Mapla y Mantemin join together to create the 12th International Congress on Mining Maintenance

The event, which has been organized as two separate meetings until last year, will take place from September 9-11, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Santiago, Chile.

The renowned meetings on Mining Plant and Mine Equipment Maintenance -Mapla and Mantemin-, both organized by Gecamin, took a major step by joining together in order to create the 12th International Congress on Mining Maintenance, Mapla-Mantemin 2015.

The seminar -which will take place from September 9-11, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Santiago, Chile-, will cover “The strategic role of maintenance and asset management in productivity”. Amongst the themes to be covered are: maintenance strategies and asset management; design maintainability and reliability; operations-maintenance interaction; equipment availability and reliability; condition-based inspection techniques; information systems and software; safety, health, environment and communities; supporting technologies and maintenance and the efficient use of energy.

This year, the congress will have two Chairs. Edmundo Mares, Regional Senior Manager of Energy and Maintenance at Barrick South America, Peru; will chair Mapla. Mr. Mares has participated in other Gecamin organized conferences; in 2014, he chaired the First International Seminar on Mining Plant and Equipment Maintenance, Maplemin, which took place in Lima, Peru. Mantemin, on the other hand,will be chaired by Mauricio Larraín, General Manager at Division El Teniente, Codelco, Chile.

By now, nearly 30 abstracts by authors from 7 countries have been received. Last year, 38 abstracts were presented and over 250 delegated from 10 countries participated in the seminar.

For people interested in participating as authors, the deadline for abstract submission is May 20, and early bird registration is until July 9.
