The Hydroprocess 2015 preliminary technical program is now available

The program includes over 60 approved abstracts form 16 countries, six plenary presentations, two short courses and two panel discussions. Moreover, there will be a technical visit to Chuquicamata.

The 7th International Seminar on Process Hydrometallurgy -Hydroprocess 2015-, which will take place from July 22-24, 2015 at the Enjoy Hotel in Antofagasta, Chile- and already has a program that includes over 60 approved abstracts by authors from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China and South Africa, among others. The themes covered in these papers are: cyanidation and sorption processes for gold and silver ores; hydrometallurgy of base metals and saline compounds; hydrometallurgy; automation, optimization and control of equipment and industrial plants; innovation and developments in the hydrometallurgical processes; and recycling of metals and alloys.

There will be six plenary presentations delivered by professionals from the following companies: Sierra Gorda SCM; Barrick Zaldívar; De Re Metallica Engineering Consultant; Division Radomiro Tomic, Codelco; Antofagasta Minerals, and Cytec. 

Moreover, there will be two panel discussions. One of the panels is entitled “Technological Innovation in Hydrometallurgy: Product and Process Development”,and will include the participation of Jorge Menacho, General Manager, De Re Metallica Engineering Consultant (moderator); Fernando Romero, Technology Manager and Operating Systems, Anglo American, Chile; Felipe Lagno, Development Manager, División Radomiro Tomic, Codelco Chile; Cleve Lightfoot, Global Practice Leader Technology, BHP Billiton Base Metals; and Pedro Morales, from CSIRO-Chile International Centre of Excellence in Mining and Mineral Processing.

The second panel is “Resource Management and Optimization in Hydrometallurgy”, with Sergio Álvarez, General Manager Cathodes, Minera Escondida, BHP Billiton, Chile (moderator); José Antonio Robles, Vicepresident of Productivity and Cost, Codelco Chile; Miguel Monroy, Process Manager, Cía. Minera Xstrata Lomas Bayas, Glencore, Chile; Rodrigo Subiabre, Vicepresident, Asset Optimization and Innovation, Anglo American, Chile; and Juan Carlos Villarroel, Senior Process Manager, Antofagasta Minerals, Chile.

In addition, there will be two short courses held prior to the event: “On the Singularities of New Trends in Hydrometallurgy”, given by Eduardo Patiño, Principal Technical Stewardship, BHP Billiton Pampa Norte; and “Modeling the Mass and Heat Transport Processes in Copper Bio-Heap Leaching”, given by Professor Wenying Liu, Department of Materials Engineering de University of British Columbia, Canada.

Prior the seminar, there will also be a technical visit to the Chuquicamata Division of Codelco, where it will be possible to visit the Solvent Extraction Plant (SX) and the Electrowinning Plant (EW), among other facilities.

Hydroprocess 2015 -organized by the University of Antofagasta and Gecamin- will be chaired by Sergio Álvarez, General Manager of Cathode Operations at Minera Escondida, BHP Billiton, Chile.
