After concluding the abstract submission stage, the 2nd International Seminar on Mining Plant and Equipment Maintenance -Maplemin 2015-, has begun to format its preliminary program.
The seminar -which will take place in Lima, Peru- has over received over 50 abstracts by authors from 12 countries among which are Australia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Germany and Peru. The main themes discussed in the abstracts are: maintenance strategies and asset management; design maintainability and reliability; operations-maintenance interaction; equipment availability and reliability; condition-based inspection techniques; information systems and software; safety, health, environment and communities; supporting technologies and maintenance; and the efficient use of energy.
Moreover, the program will include six plenary presentations. Among the confirmed presentations are: “Training Maintenance Technicians for the Mining Industry”, by Raúl Benavides from CETEMIN; “Metallurgical Failure Analysis in Mechanical Components”, by Dr. Francisco Rumiche, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP); and “Difficulties in the Successful Launch of Plants: The Case of Mills”, which will be delivered by a delegate from Chinalco.
In addition, experts in the field will lead two panel discussions: “Staff Training and its Impacto n Safety and Maintenance”, and “The Design and Maintenance in the Launch of Plants: The case of SAG Mills.”
This year, the seminar will take place from July 1-3 at the Westin Hotel in Lima, and will be chaired by Eduardo Ku, Plant Maintenance Manager, Toromocho Project Chinalco; and Manuel Valverde, Maintenance Manager Minera Las Bambas, MMG, Peru, will act as co-chair.
