The mining industry faces a scenario increasingly more challenging, operating under the uncertainty of metal prices, high structural costs, low productivity, the reduction of natural ore grades, increased transport distances, and the restriction of critical supplies such as water and energy, among others. In the light of this, the 7th International Seminar on Process Hydrometallurgy -Hydroprocess 2015- will create a space to discuss major innovations and developments related to hydrometallurgical processes in metal and non-metal mining.
The seminar -which will take place from July 22-24, 2015 at the Enjoy Hotel in Antofagasta, Chile- already, has over 30 abstracts approved by authors from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China and South Africa, among others.
Among the main themes covered by the seminar are hydrometallurgy of base metals and saline compounds, leaching and bioleaching of ores and concentrates, electrolytic and solvent extraction processes, modeling of hydrometallurgical operation and processes, and recycling of metals and alloys.
The call for papers is open until March 18 for those interested in participating as authors, and early bird registration is until May 22.
Hydroprocess 2015 -organized by the Universidad de Antofagasta y Gecamin- will be chaired by Sergio Álvarez, General Manager of Cathode Operations at Minera Escondida, BHP Billiton, Chile.
