Mapla-Mantemin 2014 meetings will focus on efficient maintenance and asset management

The events will take place simultaneously from September 3-5 at the Sheraton Hotel in Santiago, Chile.

Improving productivity and reducing operational costs are permanent challenges that the mining industry faces to remain profitable. In facing these challenges, equipment reliability and operational continuity are extremely important. That is why efficient maintenance and asset management is vital to add value and competitiveness to the mining business.

This will be the focus for the 9th International Meeting on Mine Equipment Maintenance -Mantemin 2014- and the 11th International Meeting on Mining Plant Maintenance -Mapla 2014- which will be held simultaneously from September 3-5 at the Sheraton Hotel in Santiago, Chile. The technical program includes 37 presentations by authors from 13 countries among which are Australia, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Spain and United Kingdom.

The meetings will include themes such as supporting technologies: remote monitoring, e-maintenance and robotics; availability, reliability and maintainability of equipment; and efficient use of energy. Moreover, there will be two panel discussions on relevant topics: “Safety, occupational health and maintenance” and “Mining contracts management”.

Both events will be chair by distinguished representatives from the Chilean mining industry. For Mapla, the president will be Héctor Luco, Maintenance Manager, Cía Minera Los Pelambres, Chile; while Mantemin will be chaired by Marcos Márquez, Mine Vice-President, Cía. Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, Chile.

Mapla 2014 and Mantemin 2014 are organized by The University of Queensland de Australia, C-MORE, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and company Gecamin.
