The significant number of professionals from different mining plants in Chile and from around the world presented their experiences at the 10th International Mineral Processing Conference, Procemin 2013.
The coordinator of the event, Romke Kuyvenhoven, indicated that the dynamic of the meeting was extremely enriching since industry professionals have the flexibility to share their experiences and projects implemented in different sites and conditions. This type of interaction allows for the comparative analysis of processes and decisions made.
The meeting brought together about 380 participants, who thanks to this approach could see the work being done on different levels all from an operational approach and respective analyses of both failures and achievements.
Procemin 2013 was chaired by Claudio Garcias, Deputy Plant Manager at Sierra Gorda, Chile, and organized by the Department of Mining Engineering from the University of Chile and Gecamin. The technical program included 65 presentations from 19 countries, a professional development course and a technical visit to the Valle Central Mine.
Another milestone that marked the development of Procemin was the presence of a significant number of IMPC Council members. The Council attended the conference as a prelude to the XXVII International Mineral Processing Congress to be held from October 20-24 of next year at the Sheraton Hotel in Santiago, Chile.
Procemin, therefore, included the active participation of a total of 16 Council members from countries such as China, Russia, India, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, South Africa and Canada. Among the members of the Council was the president of the IMPC 2014, Juan Yianatos, professor at the Technical University Federico Santa Maria, Chile.
