Sustainability in mine maintenance will be the central theme in the Mapla and Mantemin 2013 seminars

A total of 54 articles from 12 countries form part of the technical programme for both meetings which will take place from 4-6 September in Santiago, Chile.

With the aim of increasing production as well as sustainability professionals in the field of mining maintenance will gather at the 10th International Meeting on Mining Plant Maintenance, Mapla 2013, and the 8th International Meeting on Mine Equipment Maintenance, Mantemin 2013. 

Both events are organised by Gecamin, the University of Queensland and the University of Toronto and seek to address the challenges posed by maintenance by taking a look at best practices as well as new and developing technologies. 

According to the organisers, the meetings will also cover topics such as asset management strategy for the best use of available resources. 

The meetings will take place in parallel between 4 and 6 September in Santiago, Chile and will feature a unique technical programme consisting of 3 plenary lectures and 54 presentations from 12 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Peru and the USA. 

The seminars are chaired by senior representatives of the Chilean industry. The president of Mapla this year is Sergio Armstrong, Maintenance Manager at Minera Candelaria while Mantemin is presided by Julio Díaz, Mine Manager at Minera Esperanza, Chile.
