Universidad Adolfo Ibañez
The UAI, by way of the Center for Innovation in Mining in the College of Science and Engineering, links the challenges of the mining industry with scientific and technological knowledge in various centers and departments at the university. One area that has recognized prestige is Optimization and Mathematical Modeling, which has placed Mine Planning as a priority and created the Laboratory of Mine Planning IAU.
The lab seeks to improve mine planning practices through scientific research, dissemination and training in the use of modern optimization methods. With professors from the Engineering and Business schools, the laboratory also seeks to create ties with specialists, engineering and mining companies from around the world to create software systems, test them in real industry projects and disseminate the results publically in prestigious international journals. The laboratory is currently working with PhD students in Operations and Management from the Adolfo Ibañez University.
